Welcome to Smokey the Bear's 80th Birthday Reading Adventure!
Join us in celebrating Smokey the Bear's 80th birthday with an exciting and educational reading program that the whole family can enjoy together! Dive into a world of adventure, conservation, and fun as you help our library grow a beautiful forest of trees and you earn the title of Smokey the Bear Advocate.
Your mission is to join Smokey and his friends in a grand adventure to protect the forest and spread awareness about wildfire prevention and conservation. Smokey needs your help to plant trees, learn about nature, and inspire others to care for our environment. Along the way, you'll embark on various missions, read fascinating stories, and complete fun activities that will help you grow a lush forest right here in our library!
Embark on Missions:
Participate in thrilling missions related to Smokey the Bear, wildfires, and conservation.
Each mission will challenge you to read captivating books, learn important facts about wildfire prevention and nature, and engage with the environment in new and exciting ways. From uncovering the secrets of forest ecosystems to discovering tips for keeping our woodlands safe, each mission is an adventure that broadens your knowledge and sparks your curiosity.
Complete these missions to earn prizes and the satisfaction of contributing to a vital cause. Dive into these exciting challenges and become a true guardian of the forest!
Grow a Forest:
For every 250 minutes you read, you'll earn a tree to write your name on to be added to our library's growing forest. As you and your fellow participants read more, watch our forest blossom with each new tree.
Every tree represents your dedication to reading and conservation, helping us create a lush, vibrant forest within the library. Your efforts will be a part of a beautiful display, showing how our community can come together to make a positive impact. Let's grow this forest, one page, one book and one tree at a time!
Become a Smokey the Bear Advocate:
Reach 1500 minutes of reading to achieve the prestigious title of Smokey the Bear Advocate.
As an advocate, you'll receive a special picture of Smokey the Bear to put your name on, and it will be proudly displayed on our Advocate Wall. Your dedication to reading and conservation will be honored and celebrated as an inspiration to others.
Secret Codes:
Smokey needs your help! Join Smokey the Bear in a crucial mission to find unattended campfires and put them out before they turn into wildfires.
Search the library and find hidden Smokey the Bears, he will be searching with binoculars. When he spots a fire, he will give you a hint of what to search for in the library to find the fire. To put out the fire, simply enter the secret code.
Each secret code you find and enter, you will earn 10 points. These points can be used towards exciting raffle prizes. Can you find all 24 secret codes? If you do, you'll earn a special prize! Be a hero and help Smokey save the forest!
(Hint: There are two steps to get the secret codes. How would you search the library for something?)
*Please do not remove any Smokey the Bears from their hiding spot. We want to keep them there for everyone to enjoy. You can write down what Smokey says, or take a picture of each one with your phone so you can remember later.
Adventure Bingo:
Get ready for an exhilarating game of Adventure Bingo! Each square is a new challenge.
Complete rows, columns, or even the entire card to earn fantastic rewards. Earn treats for the first 6 bingos completed and points for raffle entries for any other bingos after that.
Join the adventure and have a blast while helping Smokey the Bear protect our forests!
Raffle Drawings:
Don’t miss your chance to win amazing prizes through our exciting raffle drawings!
As you complete missions, earn points, and engage with our program, you’ll gain points to use to buy entries into our raffle for a chance to win fantastic rewards like a BBQ grill, a family-sized tent, toys, games, and more!
Prizes are proudly displayed at the library, and you can also view them in your account under "Prize Raffles." Be sure to enter all the raffle drawings you can before the end of the program.
